Bonding

Katherine: on one hand it's 10:00 on the other I'm tired, on the other hand games are really fun.

Mike: well we've been going to sleep late and sleeping in late.

Katherine: I have been up at 8:00 every morning and just lay there and then I was like "do I hear someone going to the bathroom, o nope that wasn't us."

I couldn't agree more...

The length of a film should be directly related to the endurance of the human bladder.

Family gatherings

Cousin 1: Hey! let's got TPing!!!
Cousin 2: Yea!!! But who are we going to TP, I mean it is Christmas day!
Cousin 1: Let's just walk down the street and find some one!

We left to go TPing at around 18:00 on Christmas day.

Me: Wow! That was random!
Cousin: Why is everything random?
Me: I don't know it just is! But you have to admit, going TPing on X-mas day is a little random.
Cousin: But everything is always random, why not orange?
Me: oh yea right: That was orange!
Cousin: You're orange!

I was sending a text message to a friend of mine and to do it used the typing thing that no one really knows what it is called. It's that thing that makes words for you...well anyways, my phone made a bit of an error and wrote:

"teacher asphyxiation day"

I personally think that that should be a real holiday!

Life is Full of Surprises

The real trouble with this world of ours is not that it is an unreasonable world, nor even that it is a reasonable one. The commonest kind of trouble is that it is nearly reasonable, but not quite. Life is not an illogicality; yet it is a trap for logicians. It looks just a little more mathematical and regular than it is; its exactitude is obvious, but its inexactitude is hidden; its wildness lies in wait.
-- G.K. Chesterton

Inspiration and the attaining of it

You can't wait for inspiration. You have to go after it with a club.

The Value of a Quote

A fine quotation is a diamond on the finger of a man of wit, and a pebble in the hand of a fool.

Sign Language

This conversation was in sign language:

Me:I can't speak sign language!
Rachel: uh...yes you can!

I suppose you have to speak sign language to get it but for saying can she did the opposite of can't. She doesn't speak sign language!

Lewis

"Atheism turns out to be too simple. If the whole universe has no meaning, we should never have found out that it has no meaning..."-C.S. Lewis

It's Good to Be Human

One of the great benefits of having a dog is the increased awareness that I am not one. I look at our dog, Sable, and think for a moment that she is kind and forgiving and humble and patient and loving and warm and gentle and happy and peaceful. Then I realize she's a dog! She does not know or reason or feel or judge like I do. She does not prize anything because of its true worth—its relation to God. She doesn't know where she came from. She doesn't reflect on her identity and wonder who she is or what it means ultimately in God's scheme of things to be a dog. She doesn't think about why she's here and doesn't know where she's going.

She is a wonder, and can call forth amazing affection. But she is not a human created in the image of God. And as I think about her, I am amazed at my own humanity. And at the incredible wonders of the humans I live with.

--John Piper

C.S. Lewis Quote #2

"God whispers to us in our pleasures, speaks in our conscience, but shouts in our pains: it is His megaphone to rouse a deaf world."

Cell Phones are Everywhere

Okay, this is paraphrased, because I don't have an auditory memory...

"Solomon had it all... wives, concubines, gold... cell phones, well if they had cell phones then, Solomon would have had cell phones..." --Nate Warne

...mind you, as he was listing Solomon's assets, a cell phone went off =D

George MacDonald-Phantastes

It was evening. The sun was below the horizon; but his rosy beams yet illuminated a feathery cloud, that floated high above the world. I arose, I reached the cloud; and, throwing myself upon it, floated with it in sight of the sinking sun. He sank, and the cloud grew gray; but the grayness touched not my heart. It carried its rose-hue within; for now I could love without needing to be loved again. The moon came gliding up with all the past in her wan face. She changed my couch into a ghostly pallor, and threw all the earth below as to the bottom of a pale sea of dreams. But she could not make me sad. I knew now, that it is by loving, and not by being loved, that one can come nearest the soul of another; yea, that, where two love, it is the loving of each other, and not the being loved by each other, that originates and perfects and assures their blessedness. I knew that love gives to him that loveth, power over any soul beloved, even if that soul know him not, bringing him inwardly close to that spirit; a power that cannot be but for good; for in proportion as selfishness intrudes, the love ceases, and the power which springs therefrom dies. Yet all love will, one day, meet with its return. All true love will, one day, behold its own image in the eyes of the beloved, and be humbly glad. This is possible in the realms of lofty Death. "Ah! my friends," thought I, "how I will tend you, and wait upon you, and haunt you with my love."
